Somali Civic Leadership Programme
Become a Civic Leader
Operation Black Vote funded by the European Commission are looking for 50 dynamic and enthusiastic men and women from the Somali community who live or work in Tower Hamlets to participate in the Tower Hamlets Somali Civic Leadership Programme.
The programme builds on the success of Operation Black Vote’s groundbreaking Civic Empowerment Programmes and is designed to address the deficit of Somali individuals at all levels of public and civic life.

- The Criminal Justice System
- Voluntary and Community Work
It will allow the participants to gain experience through shadowing sessions and training days and to find out more about these important areas of public and civic life.
Successes from previous schemes include:
- A number of participants standing to be local councillors, including the first Somali Councillor in Wales
