News: Ashram CE awarded MBE



The chair of the Homes and Communities Agency is among several senior social housing figures to be recognised in the New Year Honours list.

Robert Napier, who also chairs the Met Office board, has been awarded a CBE for public service.

Jas Bains, chief executive of 1,100-home Ashram Housing Association, is awarded an MBE for services to social housing and community housing in the west midlands. AHA, which is part of the Accord group, specialises in providing housing for black and minority ethnic people.

Pat Fordham, chair of Phoenix Community Housing, a resident-led association in the London borough of Lewisham, has been awarded an MBE for services to the community.

Neil Munslow, housing services manager at Newcastle Council, has been awarded an MBE for services to local government, while Sue Roberts, chair of arm’s-length management organisation Wolverhampton Homes, has been awarded an MBE for voluntary services to social housing. Rupert Tyson, chair of Hackney Homes, also has been awarded an MBE for services to the housing sector.

Elizabeth Cartwright, chair of the regional board of the Hampshire Alliance for rural affordable housing, was awarded an OBE for services to local government.

The chief executive of the planning inspectorate at the Communities and Local Government department, Katrine Sporle, received a CBE.
