Tuntum Celebrates Excellence at the Black Achievers Awards 2024

On October 26, 2024, Tuntum Housing proudly attended the Black Achievers Awards celebrating the outstanding achievements within the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in Nottingham. This annual event was organised by Honorary Alderwoman, Merlita Bryan former Sheriff and former Lord Mayor of Nottingham. This inspiring event is dedicated to promoting positive role models, countering years of negative narratives, and highlighting the brilliance of Black men and women across Nottingham and the East Midlands.

Tuntum was honoured to sponsor the Cultural, Music & Arts Award, which was presented by Barrington Billings Director of Operations at Tuntum Housing who presented this award to the winner Mahalia Edwards, an exceptional individual making a difference in her community. This includes her remarkable achievements and unwavering commitment to music education, social justice, and her community impact.

The night was filled with joy, music and dance performances, a fashion show, and inspiring speeches. One of the highlights of the night was seeing on the stage together the Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Nottinghamshire PCC and Deputy PCC and the Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire – all people of colour. This was a powerful reminder of the achievements, resilience, creativity, and contributions of their community members and should inspire others to pursue their dreams.

Here’s to more moments of celebration, progress, and unity!
